Terms & Conditions
Amber is a service under active development. It is provided on an “as is” basis and features may change.
1. Accepting these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Anushka Singh and Justin Dsouza, as individuals (“Amber”, “we”, “us”). By signing in to or using Amber, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Amber for an organization, you confirm you may accept these terms for it. If you do not agree, do not use Amber.
2. The service
Amber lets you add documents (by upload or from Google Drive), organize them, control who can access them, and search and ask questions across the documents you are allowed to see. Features described on our website may be added, changed or removed over time.
3. Accounts and organizations
- You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google credentials secure.
- You must be at least 16 and able to form a binding contract.
- Workspace administrators can add or remove users, change roles, deactivate accounts and review document access. Removing a user deletes their data in Amber.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents and information you add (“Your Content”). You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, read, process, index and display Your Content only as needed to run Amber for you and your organization, including extracting text, creating embeddings, and producing answers and sources.
You confirm that you have the right to add Your Content and to let us process it, that doing so does not break the law or anyone’s rights, and that you have any consents required for personal information it contains. Do not add content you are not permitted to share with a service provider, or that is subject to restrictions we cannot meet.
5. Sharing and Google Drive
- When you change a file’s sharing in Amber, we also change its sharing in Google Drive on your behalf. Google may notify the people involved.
- You are responsible for choosing who can access your files. Sharing with your organization makes a file visible to everyone in your Google Workspace domain.
- Removing a file from Amber does not delete it from Google Drive. Disconnecting Drive stops Amber from reaching your files but does not undo sharing already set.
- Sharing may fail if Google refuses the change or your permission has changed. When that happens we show an error and leave Amber’s settings as they were.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Amber to break the law or infringe others’ rights, or add unlawful, harmful or malicious content;
- try to access documents, accounts or data you are not authorized to access, or bypass sharing and security controls;
- probe, scan, overload, disrupt or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product;
- use automated means to access the service in a way that is not offered or that degrades it for others;
- resell or provide the service to third parties without our written agreement.
We may limit, suspend or remove access or content that we reasonably believe breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk.
7. AI-generated answers
Amber uses AI models to understand questions and write answers. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Answers show the passages they draw from so you can check them. Do not rely on Amber for legal, medical, financial or other decisions where mistakes could cause harm without verifying the sources yourself.
8. Third-party services
Amber depends on services from others, including Google (sign-in, Drive and the Gemini API). Your use of those services is governed by their terms. We are not responsible for them, and their changes or outages may affect Amber.
9. Our property
Amber, its software, design and branding belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you only a limited, revocable right to use the service. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Amber available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change, pause or end features. We may update these terms; when changes are material we will update the effective date and notify you where appropriate. Continuing to use Amber after changes take effect means you accept them.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Amber at any time, disconnect Google Drive, and ask for your data to be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the service. After termination, sections that by their nature should survive (such as disclaimers, liability limits and governing law) continue to apply.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Amber is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that answers will be accurate or complete, that the service will be secure or uninterrupted, or that content will not be lost. Keep your own copies of important files; your originals remain in Google Drive.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Amber. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (the service is currently free) and USD 100. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law permits.
14. Indemnity
You will defend and compensate us against claims, losses and costs arising from Your Content, your breach of these terms, or your violation of law or others’ rights, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
16. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Amber. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a merger or sale.
